When I log on to the mail server, it logs me out after what seems to be about 10 minutes of inactivity.  I know ComAgent will log back in for me, but I'm used to being able to start typing a long message in the morning, then come back at my next break and check it before I send it.  Now I get logged out (timed out) and the message disappears.

Here are the solutions that I know of, but I'm hoping you can tell me that there is another way - say, a longer timeout period that won't kill your servers.  :-)

1.  Click on Send Later, then open it from the drafts folder later.  Okay solution, but doesn't help all other instances of being timed out.

2.  Use ComAgent, which logs me back in automatically. Okay solution, but, again, it isn't what I'm used to doing, and change is hard.  :-)

Thanks for your help!

Doug,

Adding time for logout is a real security issue server wide. Remember we are dealing with a webmail client here which can be used on any public computer. Access from this interface gives someone access to all of their account settings. With only a few minutes access someone with less than honorable intentions could do some serious damage to your account. Some users may even have administrator access which controls the entire domain.

I know change is hard, but you'll have a hard time convincing me to increase the time out length for the mail server for the above reasons.

You were using a desktop client right? Might be a viable solution to return to it. At least with a desktop client there is no access to your security settings directly from the server. The worst thing they can do is send out a few emails or read some of your stuff!

I know that probably wasn't the answer you wanted, and I'm willing to listen if you think I'm all wet.

Thanks for the reply.  We'll put some desktop clients to the test to determine the best route.
