Paul,

Hyperlinks are inserted through the Insert/Edit Link control in the editor.

If you don't mind I have a few questions for you.

Which browser are you using to edit?

How do you know what each Icon in the editor will do? Is the tool tip used so that when you hover over the icon you are told what the image is or does?

How do you interpret drop downs and text boxes?

I'm assuming there is some software you use as a plugin to your browser, can you point us in the right direction so we can get a better understanding of how that works?

Sorry for all the questions but it might help us understand how you work with the tools we provide.

Hello. I use Internet Explorer and the Job Access With Speech (JAWS) software. I can easily edit the source but I sure would like to be able to take advantage of the tools everyone else uses. The problems is that the controls are graphical and not labeled for accessibility. I don't know if it's something you can configure or does the DotNetNuke portal have to be updated. Most things are quite accessible. Also, how do we remove modules once they are added to pages? Overall, you have a very nice product. I can work around this issue with source if I need to. Basically, the controls of the rich text editor must function like other office controls. If they are indeed using Microsoft controls then they just need to make them accessible. Thanks so much.

We'll look into the editor a bit more. Right now each Icon on the editor does display a Tool Tip when you hove over it, but it sounds like that does not manifest itself for you.

To delete or change the location or characteristics of a module you will need to find the "Action Arrow". Each module has a title and just to the left of the title (on rare occasions it is to the right) is a small blue triangle. When you hover over that triangle a menu will drop down giving you access to the controls available for that module. They can range from Module Options to Settings to Delete.

The settings section will allow you to change the module title as we'll as change it's major settings. The Delete will do just what it says, delete the module and send it to the recycle bin.

Can you access the "Action Arrow"?

I'm not sure about the action arrows I'll have to try them, now that I know to look for them. Jaws does have a keystroke that allows me to hover but I have to know where the item is. To make this happen, each item needs to have a clear text label telling me what it does. Usually, the hover effect is caused by an onMousOver event. To make these controls accessible, other event handlers need to be added that will respond to a keyboard. Make sense?

Yes, I can access the Module Action Menus, Praise God! I was able to change the title and I saw the delete button. I was also successfully able to use the file manager this morning. The only open issue I currently have is the controls in the rich text editor. Thanks for all your help.

Hello. I did some further testing with a sighted colleague earlier today. As it is currently implemented, the insert edit hyperlink is not accessible. I really need this fixed because I like to insert links from pages on the server. To my knowledge, there isn't a reliable way to determine the URLS. If there were, I could use the source tab. Any help is very much appreciated.

Sorry but I have another question. You can identify the Source icon but not the Insert/Edit Link? Can you identify any of the other buttons on the editor toolbars?

The other to create links to internal pages would be by navigating to the page and copying and pasting the url into your link.

For documents you would be able to identify them in the folder they are in. Something like http://www.yoursite.com/portals/yoursite/docs/public/documentname.pdf

Hello. It's difficult for me to say whether I can locate the buttons. All I can see are the source font and size buttons. When I press enter on the font nothing appears to happen. Documents should not be a problem since I will know where they are placed on the Site. Copying and pasting the link should work, I'll try that. However, the special things I need to do because of inaccessibility always take more time. If you could convey this message to the DotNetNuke developers, I would really appreciate it. Overall, though, the portal works well.

Paul, the editor is the FCK Editor. We will take some discussion to them and see what we get back. We'll keep you posted, thank you for your feedback and help.

Thanks so much for all your help. In your discussions I would like you to make it clear that all of the controls in the FCKEditor need to be made accessible. Also, Ive found that direct communication works best. Can you please pass the URL  and other information needed to access the appropriate forum to discuss the FCKEditor to me so I can work with them as well?

Thanks so much.
