Creating Links
Friday, July 27, 2007 :: 1486 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Rich Text Editor ::

Creating links is very simple. All you need is some text and the destination url for the link you wish to create. If you are creating a list of links it might help if you create those links in a table.

The example below will show you how to create a list of links inside of a table.

The first thing we need to do is insert our table.

Select the Insert/Edit Table Icon

Define your table properties, in this case it is a single column table with 4 rows

Your table will now be inserted on the page ready for content. You can either type the link in directly as a www.yourlink.com and the editor will know you have added a link and create it for you.

You can also enter a string of text, like Icthus Technologies and create a link from your text.

Highlight your text by clicking and dragging over it

While your text is highlighted select the Insert/Edit Link icon

Enter in the information for your link. Notice the "Link Type" drop down. There are three available options, URL - (website address), Anchor (See the creating anchor tutorial) and Email (creates a mailto: link).

Enter in the address of the link you wish to send your visitors to. You can either select "OK" or define a "Target". To define your "Target" select the Target tab from the link manager.

The most frequently used type of target is a "New Window". This opens the link in a new tab or window and does not take the visitor off of your site.

Below is a table with several different link options

www.icthustech.com (entered directly in the table without the link manager)
Icthus Technologies
(Text highlighted and turned into a link. Opens in "New Window")

If you need to add additional rows to your table over time just click in the bottom most row, then right mouse and select "Row>Insert Row"
